Bios

Jonathan Czeck

Co-Founder, Chief Technical Director

Jon specializes, but is certainly not limited to, programming, special effects, and game design in the Unity game engine. As one of the first adopters of this amazing engine, he has become known as one of the top industry specialists in Unity. Before co-founding Graveck, Jon spent several years as an independent contractor in the same area of game development and consulting — not to mention it has been a life-long hobby before he officially entered into the profession in 2004 with his award-winning game BugThug. Jon is a jack-of-all-trades who composed music for the Big Bang Brain Games and shows off his talent as a technical artist in many of Graveck’s visual and special effects.

Matthew Gravelle

Co-Founder, Chief Production Director

Matt takes care of day-to-day operations and takes part in many different aspects of game development. His emphasis in real-time 3D modeling and texturing, as well as 2D photoshop artwork and GUI interface design. Before co-founding Graveck, Matt completed a degree in a unlikely subject: Math and Physics. He is actually licensed to teach K-12 Mathematics in the state of Minnesota. After he completed his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and his teacher training program, his career took an unexpected turn when he decided instead to pursue his life-long hobby of designing video games. Matt and Jon joined forces in the mid-90ʼs as hobbyists and have since developed their skills as leaders in the Unity3D game development community.

Tyler Burks

Creative Director

Tyler plays the part of Creative Director for Graveck, ensuring quality of both design and artwork. Working on many indie and published casual game titles in the past few years, he hopes to help Graveck set the bar for what can be achieved with Unity3d. In 2008, Tyler was elected president of a large student-ran IGDA game development club, helping students to get motivated, develop games, and go above and beyond what schools are normally teaching. He also comes from a background of graphic design and freelance illustration. When not in the studio enjoying his passion for game design, you can find Tyler at the local skate parks in Minnesota, enjoying his other hobby, skateboarding.

Derek Arndt

Technical/Creative Developer

Derek started game development in early High School, building graphics intensive applications as part of a loosely run community. After High School he built up a Shareware Mac business which eventually translated into iPhone-based applications. Derek currently is finishing up his Computer Science degree at the University of Minnesota and is doing iPhone contract work. He has shifted his technology efforts to a focus on Unity3D-based applications and devotes his free time towards a pursuit of music and overall design.
